Manchester City will host Bournemouth on Sunday, 23 August at the Etihad Stadium for the opening match of the Premier League season. City’s new manager, Enzo Maresca, will face Bournemouth’s Marco Rose, who has taken over after Andoni Iraola’s departure to Liverpool.

City’s starting XI features Donnarumma, Khusanov, Dias, Guehi, Gvardiol, Lewis, Anderson, O’Reilly, Semenyo, Foden and Haaland. The squad also includes new signing Elliot Anderson, who is expected to dominate midfield. Haaland, who recently shaved his long hair off in a social media video, will be a key goal threat for the visitors.

Bournemouth line up a team that mirrors last season’s shape: Petrovic; Smith, Hill, Silva, Truffert; Cook, Scott; Rayan, Kluivert, Tavernier; Evanilson. The Cherries will rely on Rayan, Evanilson and Tavernier to create danger from the front.

The match kicks off at 9am ET on Sunday, 23 August. It will be broadcast in the United States and streamed on the USA channel. City’s loss 3‑0 to Arsenal in the Community Shield last week was the first preseason outing for many players returning from the World Cup.

Bournemouth finished sixth last season and will test their squad’s depth against the Europa League grind that follows. City, meanwhile, will look to prove that the new management can keep them in the race for all four trophies despite the departures of Rodri, Bernardo Silva and John Stones.
