Bournemouth football club has launched an initiative to connect with the next generation of fans by gifting official sleepsuits to newborns at Bournemouth Hospital. This program aims to provide every new arrival in the maternity unit with a branded suit over the next year. Jim Frevola from the club emphasized the importance of making a meaningful connection with families, stating that starting from birth is the best way to do so. The first recipient of the sleepsuit was Baby Lowen, born at 03:15 BST on Monday, whose father expressed excitement about raising a Bournemouth fan. With the club's recent successes in the Premier League and their first-ever qualification for European football, it is indeed a great time to be a Cherries supporter. Each year, approximately 4,000 babies are born at Royal Bournemouth Hospital, and the club plans to distribute a total of 5,000 sleepsuits. Kerry Taylor, the head of midwifery at the hospital, believes families will be thrilled with this thoughtful gift. She also noted that some fans of rival clubs like Portsmouth and Southampton might have mixed feelings about the Bournemouth-branded items. Karen Smith, senior charity manager at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity, mentioned that there has already been significant interest in the sleepsuits even before their official launch.
