Bournemouth have qualified for the Europa League after a 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest on the final day of the Premier League season. The club's players and outgoing head coach Andoni Iraola celebrated with travelling fans, holding up a huge flag in honour of 19-year-old Brazilian forward Rayan. Iraola said he felt 'so, so happy' with the achievement, which comes after the club was in English football's second tier just four seasons ago. Bournemouth's Vitality Stadium, with a capacity of 11,000, will host European football for the first time in the 2026-27 season. The club's owner, American businessman Bill Foley, had set his sights on Europe when Iraola arrived in summer 2023. Iraola's intense high-pressing style has seen Bournemouth set a new club record for Premier League points in each of his three seasons. The club has acted as title-race kingmakers this season, beating eventual champions Arsenal in April. Bournemouth reached the Premier League for the first time in 2015 and were relegated after five seasons, but recovered their top-flight status in 2022. The club's partnership with Foley took over in December 2022 and sacked Gary O'Neil, replacing him with Iraola in June 2023. Iraola's style of play has given the club 'incredible results', he said. Bournemouth's European adventure will begin next season, with the club set to play in the Europa League for the first time in their history. The club's fans will be making use of budget airlines to travel to away matches, with the team set to play in front of a packed Vitality Stadium. Andoni Iraola's departure will be felt, but the club will look to build on their historic achievement.
