Bournemouth are in advanced talks to sign Elche forward Alvaro Rodriguez in a deal worth €30m. The 21-year-old Real Madrid academy graduate is nearing a five-year deal.

What's the deal?

The deal consists of a €25m fee with €5m in add-ons and will keep him at the Vitality Stadium until 2031.

Madrid are set to receive half of the fee and lose their rights over the Uruguay youth international, who left the Santiago Bernabeu last summer.

Why it matters for Bournemouth

Bournemouth will add European football to their calendar for the first time next season after qualifying for the Europa League with a sixth-place Premier League finish, earning 57 points from 38 games with a recent form of DDWWD.

They have already seen the departure of Marcos Senesi to Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer and are attempting to renew England international Alex Scott’s contract, which has two years left to run.

What comes next?

Rodriguez made seven La Liga appearances for Madrid before leaving on a season-long loan spell with Getafe in 2024-25, making 26 appearances and registering three goals and one assist.

He joined Elche in July 2025 on a contract until 2029 and became a first-team regular, appearing in all but four of their La Liga games and contributing seven goals with five assists as they finished 15th.

As of their last result, a 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest on 2026-05-24, Bournemouth are unbeaten in their last 5 games, with a record of 1W-4D-0L, and are 28 points behind leaders Arsenal in the title race, having scored 58 goals and conceded 54 this season.
