Bournemouth secured a sixth successive victory in all competitions with a 2-0 Premier League win over Leeds United at Dean Court. The result, powered by goals from Francisco Evanilson and Amine Adli, extends a remarkable defensive run and lifts the Cherries to 13th place in the league table on nine points.
Evanilson capitalised on a grievous error from Leeds goalkeeper James Trafford just after the half-hour mark to open the scoring. Trafford’s misplaced pass out from the back went straight to Bournemouth’s Ao Tanaka, who quickly found Justin Kluivert. Kluivert squared the ball for Evanilson to slot home his fifth goal in his last six matches. The Brazilian forward also made a small piece of Premier League history, becoming the first player from his country to score on Halloween since Raphinha did so five years ago.
Defensive dominance continues
Bournemouth’s clean sheet was their third in a row in the league, a first for the club in the Premier League era. They have now beaten Sturm Graz, Sunderland, AC Milan, Manchester United, Aston Villa and Leeds without conceding a single goal across all competitions. Leeds mustered only one shot on target from ten attempts, with Anton Stach missing a clear chance by firing over the bar.
Justin Kluivert was instrumental, providing the assist for Evanilson’s opener. It was his second assist in consecutive league games, a feat he had not managed since March of last year. His creativity helped unlock a Leeds defence that had frustrated Bournemouth in recent home meetings.
Adli seals the points
The points were sealed deep into stoppage time when substitute Eli Kroupi, recently back from injury, nutmegged a defender and set up Amine Adli for a simple finish. Adli, who also scored in the 3-0 win over Aston Villa three days earlier, registered his second goal of the week.
Bournemouth’s current form is a stark contrast to their early-season struggles, which had left them in the lower half. Their recent five-game winning run in the league is the club’s best sequence in the top flight. Top scorer Marcus Tavernier, with five goals this season, was kept off the scoresheet but saw a skidding free-kick well saved.
Leeds’s winless run in the Premier League stretched to five games, and they have scored only twice in that period. Dominic Calvert-Lewin had a goal ruled out for a handball in the build-up on his 50th appearance for the club.
Bournemouth now turn their attention to an away trip to face 12th-placed Ipswich Town on Sunday, 8 November.
